Videos
• Intro (00:16) - Gary discusses what this course is all about.
• Marshall JCM800 (04:20) - In the following videos, we explore a few different well-known amp tones. We'll start off by checking out the classic British amp that can do high gain pretty well.
• Orange Rockerverb (03:36) - This British amp has its own flavor. You can push it into high gain territory and even get a heavy fuzz tone out of it.
• Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier (03:29) - The Rectifier is a super popular amp, and it makes sense with the amount of low end available in this amp. You'll hear it in action with some high gain and low tunings.
• EVH 5150 (02:28) - The 5150 is probably THE high gain Amp standard. Even though this American amp came out in the 90s, it's more popular than ever now, and this video shows why with its super tight high gain.
• Fender Twin Reverb & Bassman (02:57) - Here we take a turn and look at some American amp clean tones that you can use against your high gain tones. Nothing is cleaner than a Fender Amp.
• Vox AC30 (02:41) - Another great clean amp tone is the British Vox AC30. Somewhat surprisingly, however, when you push these amps, you get a great dirty guitar tone.
• Roland Jazz 120 (01:59) - The Roland Jazz amp is a super clean, clear amp tone with lots of treble and presence. It can sound great against a high gain amp tone.
• Mesa Boogie Mark V (02:13) - We look at another Mesa Amp here, the Mark V, which is well-known for its amount of gain and EQ sound. You can hear it in action in this video.
• Diesel VH4 (02:00) - This German boutique amp is very different from its British and American counterparts. It has enormous amounts of gain and low end, plus you can add some presence to clean up that low end.
• Soldano SLO100 (02:19) - We finish off by looking at the American Soldano SLO100. This is a super tight, super high gain amp with a very distinct tone.
• Amp Tone Comparison (03:12) - In this final video, Gary plays while using each of the amps from the previous videos.
