Product Overview
Native Instrument’s POLYPLEX is your very own experimental drum design tool for creating wild sounds. Let synth tweaker extraordinaire Scottie Dugan show you how to building crazy and unique drum kits!
Scottie begins by showing you around the POLYPLEX’s eight trigger pads and its ability to randomize nearly every parameter to create those happy accidents. Next up he teaches you how to play and save your kit, including creating all kinds of variations.
Scottie then focuses on the Edit section, exploring the top level settings that apply to the entire set of POLYPLEX pads, and diving deep into layer specific settings, with each layer having up to four different layers.
That leads into the Modulation section, where things get even more interesting! POLYPLEX has three modulation sources and a ton of destinations and control, where you can modulate nearly everything to really give your drum sounds movement and life.
Finally, Scottie reveals the two insert and two effects slots and plethora of effects included in POLYPLEX, including MIDI modulation for the effects. He demonstrates all the parameters for all the effects units included in PolyPlex.
If you’re looking for a way to add wild electronic percussion to your songs, POLYPLEX is that tool, and “POLYPLEX Explained” is your guide!
Reviews
Very good but a little too brief in places
Scottie is very good at explaining things in a succinct way but, as with the Kontour series, this sometimes feels a little too brief. However, unlike that Kontour series, there are at least some sound design videos in this one and these are excellent as they show Polyplex in action, and do a very good job of bringing together what's been discussed earlier in the series.

An excellent starter
I found this series to be a great starting point that will allow for further exploration of this product. While I do agree with the previous comments, I think those aspects (more in depth coverage) could be addressed with another series of videos. If you are looking to gain familiarity with the features of Polyplex, then this makes for an excellent introduction. Note that the last two videos are where specific examples are covered.

Great start point
It's great on grasping the concepts and basics of the software. Would have been better if there was a deeper section on the modulation area of the software. Like building sounds or directions of sound design with the instrument.

Good as far as it goes...
I agree with the other reviewers. Not enough use of examples, just a quick tour through the interface. In particular, it seemed bizarre having a brief theoretical walkthrough of all the effects parameters in the final video and not playing a single sound to demonstrate! Let's hope it's not too late to flesh this out a bit more.

Teaches the mechanics but lacks examples
I feel like I learned how the car works rather than learning how to drive. There wasn't a single example of building up one sound, let alone a kit. Talking about the knobs of an effect without even playing a sound and moving them - that doesn't really help. Reading the manual would have provided as much info. This sorely needs examples - build some cool kit pieces while explaining the mechanics - TEACH me how to use Polyplex, don't just provide a video manual.
